Sheriff’s Report August 12 through August 18, 2024

The Sublette County Sheriff’s Office reported 205 incidents from August 12 through August 18, including an assault, eight search and rescues, two weather disaster situations, five fires, eight animal problems, four livestock problems, three traffic crashes with damage, 10 suspicious persons/circumstances, three welfare checks, 27 citizen assists, 22 urinalyses and 31 vehicle identification number inspections.

August 12

At 6:05 a.m., a truck struck a pronghorn. 

At 7:12 a.m., a head-on crash occurred. 

At 7:24 a.m., a welfare check was requested. 

At 7:48 a.m., a person who recently purchased a truck thought her son had taken possession of it, but he wouldn’t talk to her.

At 8 a.m., a welfare check was requested. 

At 8:42 a.m., a NICS request was received. 

At 9:25 a.m., an information report was started. 

At 10:46 a.m., a deputy assisted with a Sheriff’s Bill of Sale. 

At 10:52 a.m., a caller wanted a deputy to go to an address to determine why a person was there. It was the renter’s son. 

At 10:57 a.m., a person received phone calls that she wanted to discuss with a deputy. 

At 11:16 a.m., a prisoner was transported. 

At 11:46 a.m., a blue heeler was running between the bridge and the highway. 

At 1:32 p.m., drone training took place. 

At 2:08 p.m., a controlled substance problem was reported. 

At 2:27 p.m., a caller wanted a deputy to meet her at a recently vacated apartment to take a report of property damage. 

At 3:38 p.m., a mother reported her son and his female friend were hiking The Cirque of the Towers and hadn’t checked in. The hikers weren’t due out until Tuesday. SAR was canceled. 

At 4:22 p.m., a red sedan was speeding into the subdivision. 

At 5:26 p.m., a caller wanted a deputy to accompany her while she returned her keys to the restaurant. 

At 7:30 p.m., a firefighter near Merna accidentally called 911. Everything was fine. 

At 7:44 p.m., a person smelled propane. 

At 8:53 p.m., a sex offense was reported. 

At 8:58 p.m., a cow was on the road near the north end of Marbleton. 

August 13

At 7:08 a.m., a report of a structure fire was just a drill/test for mapping purposes. 

At 7:50 a.m., a woman opened a package with what seemed like a fake diamond in a plastic package addressed to her husband. 

At 9:41 a.m., two emergency alert tones from a Big Piney School were unfounded. 

At 10:27 a.m., the driver of a car involved in a single-vehicle rollover was arrested for DUI. 

At 10:58 a.m., a person experiencing altitude sickness using their Garmin InReach device to call for help. 

At 11:43 a.m., a property watch was initiated. 

At 11:43 a.m., a caller told dispatch he didn’t know how to fight harassment. 

At 11:56 a.m., a blood draw was conducted. 

At 12:59 p.m., a caller wanted to speak to a deputy about a scam call she received from someone claiming to offer help with paying back taxes. 

At 1:29 p.m., a caller wanted to know her rights in reference to the house she lives in. 

At 2:03 p.m., a 911 call was accidental. 

At 2:14 p.m., a caller wanted to speak to a deputy about fraud. 

At 3:15 p.m., two or three black cows were on the highway near Big Piney. 

At 3:44 p.m., a person out working on his 4-wheeler broke down and was headed on foot to his vehicle. 

At 3:52 p.m., a subject arrived to provide a portable breath test per a Colorado court order. 

At 7:35 p.m., a person was having chest pains. 

August 14

At 7:54 a.m., a 911 crash notification from a phone came through. The caller dropped his phone out of his truck. Everything else was fine. 

At 8:17 a.m., a person wanted to deliver a message to a family member. 

At 9:32 a.m., a Nevada resident who paid money to someone to make a welding bed for a truck five months ago had requested their money back but hadn’t received it. 

At 10:04 a.m., two dark-colored motorcycles were speeding south with passengers.

At 10:22 a.m., a man on the ground had wrecked his electric scooter. 

At 11:09 a.m., a fired driver would not give the keys back. 

At 12:05 p.m., a motorhome pulling a Jeep with Florida plates needed assistance. 

At 1:42 p.m., a person sharpening a knife sliced their thumb. 

At 1:43 p.m., information was passed along to investigators. 

At 2 p.m., the Rexburg Police Department requested a deputy check a specific address for possible stolen items. 

At 2:16 p.m., a caller could smell natural gas.

At 3:31 p.m., a white Dodge Ram with County 22 plates was swerving through town. 

At 4:09 p.m., a silver 2022 Camry and a white flatbed Ford pickup truck had a fender bender. 

At 4:19 p.m., a subject arrived to provide a portable breath test per a Colorado court order.

At 5:23 p.m., a truck and trailer without plates looked like they were trying to camp overnight in a “No camping” area. 

At 5:36 p.m., a Sprinter van and a Ford company vehicle were traveling at excessive speeds and extremely close following distances. 

At 5:52 p.m., a pedestrian walking home was followed by a tan dog. 

At 6:55 p.m., a caller wanted information on what steps to take for an eviction notice. 

At 9:41 p.m., a caller heard footsteps while walking to her vehicle. A deputy was unable to locate anyone. 

At 10:53 p.m., a person accidentally called 911. 

At 11 p.m., a call about a structure fire was transferred to Lincoln County. 

At 11:59 p.m., a person had fallen and couldn’t get up.

August 15

At 10:08 a.m., a person reported harassment. 

At 10:15 a.m., Sublette County Public Health reported a senior fainted. 

At 10:44 a.m., search and rescue deployed a helicopter to pick up a patient on the New Fork who likely had a heart attack last night. 

At 11:05 a.m., a prisoner was transported. 

At 11:58 a.m., a white Ford truck was swerving all over the road and traveling at high speeds. 

At 1:46 p.m., an animal problem was reported. 

At 3:06 p.m., a 911 open line came through. 

At 3:27 p.m., a warrant was served on an adult male. 

At 3:29 p.m., High Country Behavioral Health requested a welfare check. 

At 4:01 p.m., a dark silver or grey SUV with California plates and two men inside was reported as a REDDI report. 

At 4:41 p.m., a caller was concerned for the safety of two adults and a child standing in a parking area and then entering a lane of travel waving their hands. It was three kids trying to get cars to go to a carwash fundraiser. 

At 5:07 p.m., a person had questions. 

At 5:14 p.m., a possible REDDI report was received for a black Kia headed toward Pinedale that was unable to maintain a lane of travel. 

At 6:14 p.m., a report of a wildland fire was transferred to Lincoln County. 

At 7:16 p.m., a person fell and hit her head on a chair. 

At 9:27 p.m., a person was having chest pain and palpitations. 

August 16

At 5:26 a.m., multiple pronghorn antelope were hit and lying in the southbound lane. 

At 6:29 a.m., a black GMC appeared to have wrecked off of Highway 351. 

At 7:32 a.m., a person reported lots of speeders flying around the corner in the morning and evening. 

At 8:29 a.m., a caller wanted a title put in her name. The matter is a civil issue. 

At 9:34 a.m., a person was trying to get a vehicle. 

At 9:38 a.m., a civil standby was requested. 

At 9:59 a.m., a female border collie was found. 

At 1:06 p.m., a resident reported companies in the area going door to door trying to sell asphalt. A deputy made contact with the owner, whose company is based out of Idaho Falls. 

At 2:07 p.m., a theft was reported. 

At 2:26 p.m., the Department of Family Services placed an intake call. 

At 2:54 p.m., three motorcycles were passing doing at least 90 mph. 

At 2:58 p.m., a caller had questions about paperwork he’d received earlier in the day. 

At 4:01 p.m., the Silver Spur Bar reported a border collie was almost hit by a semi. 

At 6 p.m., a drunk man was threatening people at the motel. 

At 7:12 p.m., a bike rider reported a tan and white Boston Terrier ran up to her from the alley next to the VFW. 

At 8:04 p.m., a neighbor wanted a firefighter to come look at burning trash in a pit to see if it was fit for in-town burning. 

At 8:25 p.m., a tractor-trailer needed assistance. 

At 8:49 p.m., a verbal domestic disturbance was reported. 

At 9 p.m., a driver needed assistance after hitting a calf. 

At 9:07 p.m., a grass fire was reported. SCUF put out the fire. 

At 11:13 p.m., a dog was running loose. Its owner was called and came to pick up the dog. 

August 17

At 10:19 a.m., the driver of a truck and trailer requested traffic control while changing out a flat tire on the driver’s side. 

At 10:37 a.m., a tenant told a property owner that a neighbor had been parking there every weekend. 

At 10:47 a.m., a welfare check was requested. 

At 10:58 a.m., a black cow and calf were on the road. 

At noon, a family in needed was connected to the Department of Family Services. 

At 1:16 p.m., a person fell and needed help getting up. 

At 2:48 p.m., someone out painting reported the Leeds Creek Fire. 

At 3:49 p.m., six open line calls came through from the same number. 

At 3:53 p.m., someone threw a rock at a caller’s car. 

At 4:02 p.m., a caller said it had been 24 hours since they heard from their daughter. The adult daughter was at a party. 

At 4:07 pm., a trampoline took flight during the windstorm and was caught by a neighbor. 

At 4:26 p.m., branches on a tree on the courthouse lawn were breaking in the storm. 

At 4:32 p.m., a powerline was shorting out. 

At 4:36 p.m., a downed tree was blocking the road. 

At 5:10 p.m., a giant spruce branch was stuck on a juniper and both were about to come down on the house or the road. 

At 5:28 p.m., a telephone line came down with the wind. 

At 5:58 p.m., a tree fell over on a house. 

At 6:05 p.m., a power line was going down. 

At 6:41 p.m., a dog was taken to the shelter. 

At 7:16 p.m., a person hurt their ankle. 

At 7:21 p.m., a man was kicked in the chest by a mule and might have a punctured lung. Teton SAR helicopter deployed and transported the patient. 

At 7:56 p.m., a dug-up hole looked to be smoking. 

At 8:13 p.m., a truck towing a camper rolled on Highway 350. 

At 9:41 p.m., a person fell down the stairs and was bleeding from their head. 

August 18

At 12:13 a.m., a family fight was reported. 

At 10:15 a.m., a rancher needed help moving cows across the highway. 

At 10:17 a.m., a caller requested a deputy come to her house to take a report about a neighbor’s parking.

At 11:20 a.m., a black Toyota hatchback was passing dangerously heading toward Farson. 

At 11:33 a.m., a person was having a seizure. 

At 1:43 p.m., a REDDI report was received for a Ford F150 or F250 that couldn’t stay in its lane. 

At 2:03 p.m., a white Dodge Ram with a gooseneck flatbed was swerving in and out of traffic. 

At 2:22 p.m., a deputy responded to a 911 call with a little saying, “Mommy.” Everything was fine. 

At 3:26 p.m., a person reported a trash can full of dirt sitting on its side in some sagebrush. 

At 4:07 p.m., two boys and their two dads were supposed to be out Sunday afternoon. SAR was canceled. 

At 4:11 p.m., an active investigation was launched. 

At 4:31 p.m., an active investigation was started. 

At 5:43 p.m., an assault involving a juvenile was reported. 

At 6:25 p.m., a traffic complaint came through. 

At 6:38 p.m., a person was having problems breathing. 

At 6:50 p.m., a person wanted their dog. A suspect was arrested for DUI. 

At 8:32 p.m., a blood draw was performed.
