SUBLETTE COUNTY — Sublette County’s medical community will come together for the Sublette County Public Health community health fair on Friday, Sept. 20, from noon to 6 p.m., at Rendezvous Pointe in Pinedale. The public is encouraged to take advantage of the county’s many resources in one location. The event will provide opportunities for folks to visit with a physician from Sublette County Health, have their A1C levels and blood pressure checked and have balance evaluations by a physical therapist. Attendees can also drop off their unused or expired medications at a deposit box operated by the Drug Take Back Program and learn about colon health while strolling through an inflatable colon courtesy of the WY Cancer Program. Information about local resources will be on hand. Attendees can also enter to win door prizes and play games.
Hourly presentations will be held throughout the day. A forum called Narcan, How and Why begins at 3 p.m. Following at 4 p.m. is a presentation on suicide awareness. At 5 p.m., presenters will host Keeping You Running.
October flu shot clinics
Sublette County Public Health will begin holding vaccination clinics for the 2024-25 flu season in Pinedale and Marbleton beginning next month. The Wyoming Department of Health recommends flu shots and updated COVID-19 vaccines for everyone six months and older.
Vaccines offered at the upcoming clinics include Fluzone High-Dose Trivalent Vaccine approved for individuals 65 years and older. The cost is $70 per dose. Medicare Part B will cover this vaccine. The Fluzone Trivalent Vaccine will be available for individuals 6 months and older and is designed to protect against three strains of flu. The cost is $20 per dose. Public health will bill Medicare, BCBS, Cigna and UMR Insurance, and Mountain Health Coop, for folks who complete the insurance information on the registration form. The Moderna COVID boosters, approved for individuals older than 6 months, will be available for $135/dose. Medicare Part B will pay for this vaccine, and public health will bill other listed insurance. State-provided doses are currently on order for uninsured and underinsured individuals. Folks in these categories should call to check on availability.
There will be no drive-thru events in Big Piney/Marbleton this year. Instead, a clinic will be held inside the Southwest Sublette County Pioneers Senior Center on Tuesday, Oct. 1 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Then, beginning Oct. 8, vaccine clinics will be held in Marbleton every Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Marbleton Public Health office.
In Pinedale, two drive-thru vaccine clinics are planned at the Museum of the Mountain Man. The first is on Thursday, Oct. 3 from 10 a.m. to noon for high-dose flu shots for folks 65 years and older and/or COVID vaccines. The drive-thru clinic is open to all ages from 2-5 p.m. on Oct. 3 and again on Thursday, Oct. 10 from 1-4:30 p.m.
Public Health will offer vaccine clinics at its Pinedale office from 8 a.m. to noon and 1-5 p.m. every Thursday beginning Oct. 17.
