We had 16 athletes achieve at least one personal best performance, which was over a third of the team. That was a great accomplishment for the team last weekend. This is an exciting way for many kids to start the season, and we will look to carry that momentum forward.”

ROCK SPRINGS – As the regional snowmelt accelerates and Spring Break passes into the rearview mirror, Pinedale High School was able to field its entire girls’ and boys’ outdoor track team at the Ted Schroeder Meet of Hope in Rock Springs on Saturday, April 15.
The Lady Wranglers bagged fourth place out of 10 teams, posting 88 points. The Wrangler boys’ picked up eighth place with 34 points.

Junior Katyana Dexter blew the competition away in girls’ throwing. Clearing 41 feet, 4 inches in the shot put, Dexter captured gold in the event, beating Adelyn Anderson of Lander by 3 feet, 8 inches.
Dexter also shattered the Pinedale High School record in the shot put at Rock Springs that she set in the 2022 season of 38-09.
Snagging gold in the discus as well, Dexter’s final throw was measured in at 133-10, more than 20 feet ahead of the rest of the pack. Dexter’s toss was the top mark for both boys and girls at Rock Springs.
In relay action, sophomore Madison Antonino, junior Lauren Jones, senior Mandy Majhanovich and sophomore Isabelle Rigo soundly won the girls’ 4x400-meter relay. Clocking the race in at 4 minutes, 36.53, the team beat Kemmerer by nearly 2.5 seconds.
Freshman Megan Boulter won the girls’ high jump with a leap of 4-08. Boulter pulled ahead of her opponents by 1 inch.
Antonino earned silvers in both the girls’ 800-meter run and 1600-meter run. The sophomore took second place in the 800-meters with a time of 2:35.44. In the 1600-meters, Antonino also secured second place, crossing the finish line at 5:28.15.
Senior Cade Covill, junior Bodie Jensen, senior Ethan Jensen and sophomore James Tolson scooped up second place in the boys’ 4x400-meter relay, posting a time of 3:58.10. The all-senior team of Tucker Watson, Sawyer Siefkes, Noah Sletten and Luke Gray placed third in the relay at 4:00.11.
Majhanovich garnered third place in the long jump, clearing 15-02. In the 200-meter dash, Majhanovich captured seventh place with a time of 28.56 seconds.
Alicia Dexter, sophomore Evelynn Shivers, junior Shelby Pearson and freshman Olivia Tolson earned third place in the girls’ 1600-meter sprint medley relay, clocking in at 5:03.74. An all-freshman team consisting of Boulter, Candice Goodrich, McKinzie Mortensen and Claire Thonhoff placed fourth in the girls’ 4x400-meter relay at 4:56.45.
Clearing 40-03 ½ in the boys’ triple jump, Ethan Jensen snagged third place. Jensen came in fifth place in the 110-meter hurdles, hitting the finish line in 17.86 seconds, and took sixth in the high jump at 5-06.
Senior Stephanie Resendiz hit a prequalifying time in the girls’ 100-meter dash, attaining fifth place in the event at 13.39 seconds. Hitting the finish line of the 400-meters in 1:09.87, Resendiz placed sixth in the event.
In the pole vault, Rigo placed fifth in the girls’ competition at 7 feet and Sletten placed fifth in the boys’ at 10 feet.
Freshman Alicia Dexter came in seventh place in the long jump at 14-07 ½. Watson picked up sixth place in the boys’ long jump with a leap measured in at 18-10 ½. Sophomore Matazi Landers bagged eighth place in the girls’ 800-meters at 2:58.85.
