CASPER – The Pinedale High School track teams concluded the 2024 spring season with strong performances at the Wyoming State Track and Field Championships in Casper from May 16-18.
The Lady Wranglers fielded 10 athletes at the season-culminating event and finished eighth as a team out of 15 schools, posting 41 points. Two tracksters represented the Wrangler boys at state – senior Austin Green and sophomore Cale Dauwen.
Junior Madison Antonino garnered two gold medals, a silver medal and three all-state awards in girls’ long-distance events. On Friday, Antonino kicked off the state meet with a bang, snagging the championship in the 3200-meters with a time of 11 minutes, 21.66 seconds. Antonino crossed the finish line more than 22 seconds ahead of the runner-up, Worland’s Zena Tapia.
Thursday morning featured the 800-meters, with Antonino pulling into second place and posting a time of 2:23.17.
Antonino rounded out an exceptional weekend by bagging gold and her third all-state award in the 1600-meters. The race for the top two spots between Antonino and Lander’s Ameya Eddy came down to the wire. A powerful kick by Antonino in the end pulled the Pinedale junior ahead of Eddy by more than three seconds to win at 5:13.35.
Senior Katyana Dexter trounced the competition in the girls’ discus, striking gold and earning all-state recognition with a mark of 144 feet, 6 inches. Dexter’s best throw measured nearly 12 feet further than the top mark hit by the second-place finisher, Adelyn Anderson of Lander.
Dexter’s toss also secured the senior a spot on the Best of the Best Award podium for achieving the farthest discus mark for girls out of all classifications (1A, 2A, 3A and 4A) at the 2024 state championships.
Junior Karsyn Henn broke into the top eight in the girls’ discus, capturing seventh place with a throw of 116-08.
The girls’ 4x400-meter relay team – junior Isabelle Rigo, junior Mae McGuire, senior Anna Lehr and Antonino – clinched eighth place, crossing the finish line in 4:19.55.
In the boys’ discus, Green advanced to eighth place on the leaderboard, hitting a mark of 134-01.

Clocking the girls’ 4x800-meter relay in at 11:15.22, junior Matazi Landers, sophomore McKinzie Mortensen, sophomore Olivia Tolson and freshman Bethany Vrska took ninth place.
Rigo pulled into 12th place in the girls’ pole vault, achieving a mark of 8-06.
In the prelims for the girls’ 300-meter hurdles, McGuire placed 16th with a time of 50.80 seconds.
Dauwen finished ninth in the boys’ shot put, clearing 45-04. Green placed 14th in the event with a mark of 40-01 ¼.
