The Sublette County Sheriff’s Office reported 189 calls and incidents from Sept. 11 to Sept. 17, including two fires, a suicidal person, 11 livestock problems, five crashes, 15 citizen assists, three search-and-rescues, 12 traffic complaints, 17 suspicious incidents, 32 urinalyses and 22 vehicle identification number inspections.

Sheriff's report Sept. 11 to Sept. 17, 2023

The Sublette County Sheriff’s Office reported 189 calls and incidents from Sept. 11 to Sept. 17, including two fires, a suicidal person, 11 livestock problems, five crashes, 15 citizen assists, three search-and-rescues, 12 traffic complaints, 17 suspicious incidents, 32 urinalyses and 22 vehicle identification number inspections.

Sept. 11

At 1:29 a.m., Global Star reported a spot SOS of a juvenile with altitude sickness. Tip Top Search and Rescue’s helicopter crew picked up the juvenile near Indian Basin and flew them to the clinic.

At 8:14 a.m., a woman reported a custody violation between her son and the child’s mother.

At 8:30 a.m., a maroon Honda Pilot was traveling about 100 mph.

At 9:57 a.m., tire debris was a traffic hazard.

At 10:26 a.m., a man submitted a urine sample as part of an ongoing investigation.

At 10:51 a.m., a deputy opened an investigation.

At 1:38 p.m., a charcoal Dodge hauling a gooseneck trailer was rounding corners at 40 to 50 mph in Hoback Canyon.

At 1:59 p.m., a black Dodge truck ran into a pole at the Marbleton clinic.

At 2:36 p.m., a motorcycle crashed at milepost 56 on Highway 191. The call was transferred to Wyoming Highway Patrol.

At 3:01 p.m., a person violated a protection order.

At 4:16 p.m., one driver backed into another vehicle; juveniles were involved.

At 7:13 p.m., two suspicious men in an Oregon vehicle kept trying to talk to girls with Big Piney’s “Paint the Town Red” project.

At 8:17 p.m., a hunter parked at Clarks Draw left his keys on his spare tire and they were gone when he returned; he asked for a ride.

At 8:53 p.m., a deputy stopped a motorcyclist and issued several violations.

Sept. 12

At 2:24 a.m., a white semi hauling a 53-foot refrigerated trailer broke down in the northbound lane. Its air tanks were punctured and it was unable to move.

At 8:55 a.m., a man reported seeing a truck with two people inside and then hearing a gunshot. It was unfounded; the truck backfired and stalled.

At 9:03 a.m., the woman driving a green semi hauling hay was acting very strangely; it was unfounded but the driver was cited for an expired registration.

At 9:31 a.m., a deputy received information for an ongoing investigation.

At 9:48 a.m., a possibly stoned man came into the county clerk’s office; he was not high.

At 10:41 a.m., a school resource officer looked into a tobacco problem at a Pinedale school.

At 11:21 a.m., an older gray Jeep was passing people in Hoback Canyon and almost ran another driver off the road.

At 12:14 p.m., a woman wanted to know why her landlord took a vehicle she was making payments on. It was a civil issue.

At 1:45 p.m., a white SUV passed and speeded in a no-passing zone.

At 2:49 p.m., a work trailer dropped trash down Ehman Lane to the dump. The driver was cited for driving without a license and warned about hauling an unsecured load.

At 4:16 p.m., Lincoln County reported a medical emergency of a man with a hole in his foot.

At 4:52 p.m., a deputy checked on a person’s welfare.

At 5:46 p.m., a white commercial truck with a belly-dump trailer almost hit another vehicle.

At 7:24 p.m., loose llamas were running in the road.p.m.,

At 8:53 p.m., two black cows were on the highway.

At 9:02 p.m., a suspicious white truck parked in front of a house, took off, stopped and came back.

Sept. 13

At 6:08 a.m., a detective contacted the Wyoming FBI office for assistance.

At 6:09 a.m., the detective also contacted the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation.

At 7:35 a.m., a man asked if he could file a criminal complaint against an employer who signed his name without permission.

At 8:50 a.m., Fremont County asked if Tip Top could help look for a man, 78, who was missing for two days. The hiker made contact with his wife.

At 9:35 a.m., a woman was worried about a man who just got fired carrying his pistol while doing laundry.

At 10:06 a.m., WHP passed on a traffic complaint about an unsafe driver.

At 11:51 a.m., a pregnant woman wasn’t feeling well.

At 11:55 a.m., a bank testing its fire alarms forgot to inform the sheriff’s office.

At 12:23 p.m., a bug bomb set off a fire alarm.

At 12:35 p.m., a UPS delivery set off a residential alarm.

At 1:50 p.m., a white truck doing 80-plus mph passed another vehicle on the Boulder Bridge.

At 2:37 p.m., a deputy checked on the driver of a gold truck, who was not intoxicated.

At 4:09 p.m., a man asked a deputy to check on someone’s welfare.

At 7:24 p.m., a person had seizures.

At 7:41 p.m., an odd-acting camper with dogs pulled a pistol at two riders and said she used to live there but her house burned down.

At 7:44 p.m., a deputy dealt with a juvenile-related incident.

At 8:49 p.m., a campground manager reported a suspicious man walking around and asking for a ride. A deputy didn’t find him.

At 10:46 p.m., a woman complained about a noisy restaurant kitchen.

Sept. 14

At 4:28 a.m., a Wisconsin sheriff’s office asked a deputy to deliver a message about a death.

At 6:26 a.m., a 2014 Volkswagen hit a deer.

At 8:42 a.m., a woman reported threats.

At 10:52 a.m., a caller was worried about an inexperienced hiker whose phone app wasn’t working. The hiker didn’t have cell service in the mountains.

At 1:27 p.m., a gray sports car passed a driver at 85-plus mph.

At 2:28 p.m., seven cattle were on Paradise Road.

At 2:38 p.m., SAFV provided a detective with information.

At 3:49 p.m., the school resource officer went to a Big Piney school.

At 3:49 p.m., a big white dump truck rolled through a stop sign and across the highway before stalling; the caller had barely missed hitting it. She said the same thing happened near 40 Rod Road.

At 4:10 p.m., a person had seizures.

At 4:59 p.m., a man driving 85 mph reported a white transit van passed him.

At 7:37 p.m., a sergeant wrote up a traffic offense.

At 9:15 p.m., a person was having heart problems.

At 9:42 p.m., a man parked his rental car in front of a bar and couldn’t find it when he came back. It was parked around the corner.

Sept. 15

At 12:09 a.m., a storage motion sensor alarm went off.

At 6:22 a.m., deputies took a male inmate to Sweetwater County for a medical appointment.

At 7:55 a.m., a fire started at the Big Piney landfill’s construction and demolition pit; Sublette County Unified Fire responded and helped put it out.

At 11:17 a.m., a deputy attended a parade.

At 11:27 a.m., pea gravel was spread across the highway.

At 12:19 p.m., a person’s oxygen level dropped.

At 12:23 p.m., the school resource officer responded to a juvenile incident.

At 2:22 p.m., a 2-year-old was sitting alone by a street; the parents took the child inside before a deputy arrived.

At 3:44 p.m., a hiker trying to get from Elkhart Park to Miller Lake found high ground and self-rescued.

At 3:57 p.m., a person had diabetic reaction.

At 6:40 p.m., Teton County dispatch reported a woman driving a black SUV went into a ditch; WHP responded.

At 6:57 p.m., several horses were in the road.

At 7:07 p.m., a man had information for an ongoing investigation.

At 10:10 p.m., a deputy checked on a juvenile who ran away to a girlfriend’s house.

At 10:17 p.m., a person thought someone was shooting outside; a deputy didn’t hear gunshots.

Sept. 16

At 12:25 a.m., a caller complained about music and people yelling.

At 1:27 a.m., a deputy checked out a juvenile situation.

At 7:38 a.m., a hotel manager asked a deputy to stand by while an employee was fired.

At 8:37 a.m., a camper’s carbon dioxide alarm went off.

At 9:37 a.m., a man was worried about his wife who was missing for an hour; she took the dogs for a walk.

At 10:39 a.m., a caller reported a suspicious abandoned campsite.

At 12:41 p.m., three of a neighbor’s horses were on the highway.

At 12:55 p.m., a Chevy Silverado got $65.36 in gas and drove off.

At 2:02 p.m., a Rapid SOS text came in and dispatch couldn’t reach the person.  It was from a hiker with altitude sickness; Tip Top’s helicopter crew picked up the patient.

At 2:33 p.m., a caller said a Pinedale Half Marathon sign was blocking a handicapped parking spot at Ridley’s; he was advised to speak with a manager.

At 4:35 p.m., a dirt bike was going 60 to 70 mph om a private ranch dirt road.

At 4:42 p.m., a rancher wanted to report hunting trespassers.

At 4:42 p.m., a 4-wheeler accident was reported.

At 5:14 p.m., EMTs were flagged down for a medical emergency.

At 6:47 p.m., two black cows were by Highway 191.

At 10:51 p.m., a sleeping woman was wakened by what sounded like a single gunshot. Deputies didn’t find anything.

Sept. 17

At 12:42 a.m., a caller said people were in a collision; there wasn’t a crash.

At 10:15 a.m., a dehydrated person had a medical emergency.

At 10:41 a.m., two callers reported two black cows by Highway 191.

At 10:51 a.m., a family fight was reported.

At 11:06 a.m., campers with a black Ford and ATVs had a bonfire burning. They were cited and warned about several violations.

At 1:53 p.m., a woman said it was unsafe to meet her ex and get her children and asked for help.

At 2:07 p.m., family and a counselor were contacted about a suicidal person.

At 3:32 p.m., a green Toyota’s battery died; the driver asked for assistance.

At 3:46 p.m., the drone was deployed to check on the suicidal person.

At 6:16 p.m., a person’s medical alarm went off.

At 7:14 p.m., a deputy asked for backup during a traffic stop; the German driver didn’t understand American miles-per-hour speed limits.

At 7:47 p.m., a calf was on the highway.

At 9:41 p.m., someone lost camping gear and clothing along a stretch of highway.
