One-day domestic battery trial is Nov. 3

SUBLETTE COUNTY – Christopher S. Davis, of Pinedale, will appear before Sublette County Circuit Court Judge John LaBuda and six jurors for a one-day trial over a domestic battery misdemeanor charge filed in March.

On March 16, Davis was arrested after a woman called 911 about a domestic dispute late that night. She said she and Davis were arguing all day and she left the house for several hours, refusing to answer his calls, according to a deputy’s affidavit. When she returned home to get some things, Davis had locked himself in a bedroom and wouldn’t open the door, it says.

When he did open the door, he allegedly grabbed her by the throat and pushed her up against the wall; she could breathe but it was “for too long for it to be ok,” the affidavit says.

Deputies spoke with Davis, who said he “lost it” and “physically attacked her,” squeezing her throat long enough to push her back and then let go, the affidavit says.

On March 17, Sublette County Deputy Attorney Damon DeBernardi filed one count of domestic battery against Davis, a misdemeanor punishable by up to six months in jail and/or a $750 fine.

Davis pleaded not guilty at his Sublette County Circuit Court arraignment on March 20.

In July, Sublette County Deputy attorney Damon DeBernardi filed a notice seeking $1,475.59 for Davis’s alleged victim expenses. The woman also submitted a victim impact statement.

In August, Judge LaBuda ordered the trial to be continued until Nov. 2 after Davis waived his right to a speedy hearing.
