SUBLETTE COUNTY – A former deputy will have a misdemeanor refrigerator theft charge dismissed if she successfully completes 6 months of unsupervised probation and makes restitution.

Lyndy Guenther was charged with depriving Pinedale landlord John Whetstone of use of a Frigidaire side-by-side fridge from July 19 to July 28, after she refused to return the fridge that she said was damaged and removed, records show.

She had advised Whetstone that he could use her $1,500 security deposit on the apartment she rented from him, records show. The case was investigated by a Teton County detective and charged by special prosecutor Loretta H. Kalles of Uinta County.

Guenther was represented by private attorney Travis Bing at her Dec. 1 arraignment before Sublette County Circuit Court Judge John LaBuda with Michael Greenwood of Uinta County representing the state.

Bing and Greenwood reached an agreement that Guenther could plead no contest and the conviction would be suspended and dismissed after successful unsupervised probation and restitution. She will make restitution payments to Teresa R. Taylor. The judge accepted her plea and the agreement through June 1, 2024.
