Curtis was born in Craig, Colo., on Nov. 15, 1953. He passed away at his place of residence on in Riverton, Wyo., on April 8.
Curtis met his wife one summer day in 1971 on the coast of Oregon. He married Lori Hendricks in 1973, at the Grange Hall in Yachats. After the wedding, they moved out to Big Piney, Wyo., where they began the next part of their lives. After Lori’s passing, Curtis relocated to Riverton in search of a better climate to suit his liking.
Curtis worked for nearly 54 years in the oil and gas fields of Wyoming as a contractor, roustabout, hot oil and water truck operator and finally as a lease operator in the Jonah Field. He served his community as a volunteer firefighter for 32 years. He loved to help his church family and anyone else who was in need. He also loved fishing, building models and doing work in his yard.
Curtis is survived by his brother Tom (Janice) Hendricks and their families; Steve and Jodi Kipp and their children Brooklyn and Raelynn, Cody Hendricks and his children Dawson and Hudson, Curtis’ half-brothers Harrison and Wes. Curtis is also survived by his three children and their families; Michael and Jennifer Petty and their four children Justice, Andrew, Jadon and Aaron; Curtis M. Hendricks and partner Alisha Moates and her children Kayin, Jack and Tayla; Bryan and Justine Hendricks and their children Hadassah, Malakiy and Elijah.
On Sunday, April 21, there will be a viewing beginning at 10:30 a.m., with funeral services to follow at 11 a.m., at Truth Ministries in Big Piney, Wyo. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews at www.IFCJ.org.
