Barbara Kay Gange (Hankins)

Barbara Kay Gange was born on Nov. 23, 1947, as Barbara Kay Hankins in Ponca City, Okla. She lived a full life until her death on March 13, 2021, at the Hospice House of Spokane North in Spokane, Wash., where she finally lost her 12-and-a-half-year battle with COPD.

Before moving to Spokane, Wash., in 2014, she lived in Pinedale, Wyo., for 16 years. She lived in Pasadena, Md., for decades prior to moving to Wyoming and she worked for Northrup Grumman (previously Westinghouse) for 25 years. She was a data entry operator initially but retired as an account trouble shooter, where she excelled.

After retirement in 1998, she and her husband (Tom Gange) moved to Wyoming, which was a lifelong dream of hers. Besides her love for Wyoming, Barbara had many hobbies and passions including gardening, sewing, country music line-dancing, baking cookies, banana bread and red velvet cake, traveling and sight-seeing, watching QVC, shopping online and watching Fox News Channel’s “The Five” with Dana Perino.

Barbara is survived by her husband Tom of Spokane, Wash.; son Chuck Moffatt and wife Kara of Nine Mile Falls, Wash.; son Chris Moffatt and wife April of Canadohta Lake, Penn.; stepson Phil Gange of Boonsboro, Md.; and stepson Brian Gange and wife Renee of Manchester, Md. She is also survived by one sister, Betty Hankins Weber, nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, James (J.R.) and wife Kathryn (Green) Hankins of Ponca City, Okla., and one sister, Carol Hankins Fiero.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in the name of Barbara to Hospice of Spokane. This organization was incredibly caring, gentle and supportive of Barbara and her family and ensured her comfort, dignity and respect during her final weeks.

Barbara chose to be cremated, and a service will be held in Pinedale, Wyo., at a date to be determined later.
