PINEDALE –Wells Fargo & Company has donated $15,000 for relief efforts to support
those impacted by wildfires throughout Wyoming.
“We’re so thankful for Wells Fargo’s commitment to the Red Cross through its $15,000 gift
to support disaster relief,” said Gino Greco, Chief Executive Officer, American Red Cross Colorado
and Wyoming Region. “Their generous gift supports the Red Cross mission as we work
together to help people impacted by disasters and wildfires across our region.”
More than 400,000 acres burned in Wyoming over the summer. Red Cross volunteers assisted
at several major fires including Badger Creek, Britania Mountain and the Ryan Fire. As well as
being the state’s most destructive natural disaster in recent memory, the Roosevelt Fire burned
more than 60,000 acres and 55 homes.
The American Red Cross of Wyoming has more than 20 trailers or caches prepositioned
across Wyoming. These have the necessary equipment needed to shelter as many as 75 people
each, giving evacuees a safe place to stay, food, emotional support, clean-up supplies and other
services, in the event of an emergency.
“Wells Fargo is committed to our communities, and this means helping our team members,
friends and neighbors affected by tragedy,” said Shari Knoll, region bank president for Wells
Fargo. “We are a part of the communities affected, with team members helping in the fight. We
greatly appreciate everything the firefighters, first responders, volunteers and Red Cross are
doing to help support everyone impacted.”
Each year in the U.S., the Red Cross responds to nearly 64,000 disasters across the country,
including home fires, hurricanes, floods, earthquakes, tornadoes and wildfires. Disaster Responder
members pledge donations to American Red Cross relief year-round, in advance of
major catastrophes. This helps ensure the Red Cross can respond immediately with comfort and
care whenever and wherever emergencies occur, assist families during the recovery process, and
ensure communities become better prepared.
The Disaster Relief Emergency Fund enables the International Federation of Red Cross and
Red Crescent Societies to provide immediate financial support to National Red Cross and Red
Crescent Societies, enabling them to carry out their unique role as responders.
