Robert Allen Post
March 13, 1950 — May 24, 2024
Robert Allen Post was born on March 13, 1950, in Casper, Wyo. He left this world to go home to his Savior, Jesus Christ on May 24, while surrounded by his family at the Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls. Rob’s parents were Donald Lee Post and Elizabeth (Bette) Post. Rob had two siblings, his brother Donald Post and his sister Peggy Kaul.
Rob graduated from Pinedale High School in 1968 and immediately volunteered for the U.S. Army. Before shipping out to Vietnam he married his childhood sweetheart Melva Ann Priebe. Rob served active duty until 1971, then he and Melva returned home to Boulder to begin their life together. Rob was honorably discharged in 1975. Rob and Melva had three boys, Kip, Mat and Cody. Rob was the hardest working rancher, logger, welder, truck driver, mechanic and overall entrepreneur that anyone knew. The family moved to Riverton in 1987 and lived there until retirement in 2017. Rob was an active member of his local VFW Chapter, the military Honor Guard, and was heavily involved in the Pinedale Bible Church.
Rob loved all the beauty of Wyoming. Hunting, fishing, four-wheeling and exploring all the amazing areas of our beautiful state filled his days. Driving a team of horses, especially his Percherons in the mountains gave Rob true joy. Rob’s biggest passion was his family. He cherished spending time with his sons and their families. It never mattered what they were doing if they were doing it together. Rob started each day with a good morning text to his boys and posting a Cowboy Prayer to his Facebook page.
Rob was preceded in death by his parents Don and Bette and his brother Don.
He is survived by his wife Melva, sister Peggy Kaul (husband Alan), sons Kip (wife Janet), Mat (wife Donna), and Cody (wife Danielle), and his grandchildren Kyara, Kaelyn, Celeste (great-granddaughter Ayla), Cierra, Maci, Sonja, Nolan, Ryden, Creedly and Trailen. Rob is also survived by many extended family, friends and his four-legged children.
Funeral Services will be held at the Boulder Community Center in Boulder, Wyo., on Sunday June 2 at 3 p.m., with a reception following at the same location. Please bring a side dish or dessert for the meal. The family would like anyone who wishes to speak at the services and share a story they have of Rob.
