Melissa Michele (Maycock) Jessen, 50, passed away tragically in an automobile accident on Dec. 26, 2025. She was born on March 9, 1975, in Buffalo, Wyo., and was the cherished daughter of Mitchel and Dixie Maycock.
Melissa is survived by her husband, Eric Jessen, and their three beloved children: Haven Jessen, Karsen Jessen, and Corben Jessen. She is also survived by her parents, Mitch and Dixie Maycock; her grandmother, Donna McCormack; her brother, Joseph (Jessica) Maycock; her sister, Connie (Ryan) Hayden; and numerous cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews who all adored her.
Melissa was a loyal and deeply treasured friend to many. She grew up on a ranch west of Gillette, Wyo., where she developed a fearless love for horses and exceptional riding skills. These early years shaped her strength, confidence and independence.
She graduated from Campbell County High School in 1993. An avid reader, Melissa was rarely without a book. Many mornings during her school years found her tired after staying up all night, unable to put down a good story, showing a love of reading that remained with her throughout her life.
Melissa married Eric Jessen on Jan. 4, 1997. In 2003, they moved to Big Piney, Wyo., where they raised their three children. Melissa was deeply involved in her children’s lives — always active, supportive, and present in their many activities. In 2022, the family relocated to Gardendale, Texas, for Eric’s work.
Above all, Melissa loved spending time with family and friends. She was fiercely loyal, especially to her children. She had a rare ability to connect with people on a deeper level, engaging others with warmth and sincerity. She was charismatic, intelligent, and beautiful, inside and out. She will be remembered forever in our hearts.
