MARBLETON — A 17-year-old Marbleton resident was behind the wheel of an Eiden Construction truck when it crashed into Sellers Real Estate at 301 Main Street in Marbleton at 3:16 a.m. on Tuesday, June 11, destroying the building. The juvenile male, Connor Hanson, has been charged as an adult with theft, aggravated eluding and two counts of property damage, said Sublette County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Travis Bingham. The final figure is not yet available, but it’s estimated that between destroying the building and the truck, the teen did more than $12,000 in damage.

Hanson has no connection to either Eiden Construction or Sellers Real Estate.
An initial investigation into the crash indicates Hanson did not brake and took the turn too fast, losing control of the truck hauling a flatbed trailer and plowing through the real estate office at the corner of Main and 3rd Street. He was uninjured in the crash and “very lucky,” Bingham said. There were no other occupants in the vehicle.

Bingham said deputies do not suspect the teen was under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

SCSO deputies transported the juvenile to Sweetwater County at 5:57 a.m. on June 11, which is customary with offenders under 18. The teen appeared in circuit court by video in Sweetwater County and was released on a $5,000 cash bond the following day, June 12.

Marbleton’s work truck

The Sheriff’s Office is actively investigating another incident of joy-riding that occurred over Father’s Day weekend. Someone stole a work truck belonging to the Town of Marbleton and drove it around over the weekend. The vehicle was returned before an employee noticed and contacted the SCSO on the morning of Monday, June 10. Because of the ongoing investigations, Bingham said it’s not yet known whether Hanson is connected to the stolen Marbleton work truck.
