John Scott ‘Grandpa Santa’ Godfrey
Nov. 6, 1939 — May 19, 2024
John Godfrey, 84, of Pinedale, Wyo., sadly left us on May 19.
Born in Cheyenne, Wyo., John moved to Pinedale in 1996, after living in Illinois for over 25 years. He quickly became involved in the community through service on the tourism and hospital boards, but most memorably for transforming into “a right jolly old elf” every December for many years.
He leaves behind his loving and devoted wife of 60 years Jacqueline (Jackie) Godfrey; his brothers Robert, Thomas, James, David and Richard, and their wives; his children John (Kelly) Godfrey, Jill (Edward) Zoiss, and Joel (Amanda) Godfrey; and his grandchildren Katie, Shannon, Justice, Adam, Ryan, Emma, Collin, and Gracelyn.
A celebration of life will be held in his honor at a later date.
“But I heard him exclaim, ere he drove out of sight - ‘Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good night!’”
Don’t forget to leave cookies out for Santa on Christmas Eve, but never oatmeal raisin. Santa hates raisins!
