Francis Marian Sherwood Olson was born on April 18, 1953, in Lark, Utah. She passed away on Feb. 8 in Big Piney, Wyo.
Fran was the seventh of eight children born to William (Bill) and Lois Sherwood. She spent most of her childhood in South Jordan, Utah. She graduated from Bingham High School in 1971 and later attended the College of Eastern Utah in Price.
Fran had many dear friends throughout her life. She was witty, fun, bright, creative, generous, and loving. All were welcome in her circle of friends and were blessed by her humor, warmth and welcoming and nonjudgmental nature.
Fran married Daniel Olson on March 1, 1975, in Salt Lake City. They shared over 50 wonderful years of marriage. Over the years, they lived in Riverton, Utah; Jensen, Utah; and Big Piney. Together, they enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Fran loved spending a day at the lake, swimming, fishing, and laughing with those she loved.
Fran and Dan raised their son, Dustin, and their grandson, Jamie. She was also a loving mother figure to several nieces and nephews and cared for multiple foster children. She also enjoyed working with kids as a substitute teacher. Fran had an abundance of love to give and supported many children and young adults throughout her life.
Fran was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Lois Sherwood, and her siblings, Mae, Willie, Jimmy, and Doug Sherwood.
She is survived by her husband, Dan Olson; her son, Dustin Olson; her grandson, Jamie Olson; her siblings Charlotte (Jim) Daley, Kathy Morley, and John (Susan) Sherwood; and many nieces and nephews who adored her.
Her life was a beautiful reflection of love freely given, humor and laughter generously shared, and kindness that will continue to ripple through generations. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
A celebration of life will be held this spring.
