Elaine was born on May 17, 1922, and died on June 4, at the age of 103. She was born in LaSalle, New York, the second child of Harold and Irma Huse. Her two siblings were Gerald Huse and Mary Ellen Huse (Bartlett). Elaine graduated from LaSalle High School in 1940 and then attended Susquehanna University for one year before marrying Henry V. Mess of Niagara Falls, New York, on June 12, 1942. Henry and Elaine had four children, all of whom are still living: Priscilla Mecham, Frederick Mess, Andrew Mess and Martha Henson.
Henry, her husband of 58 years, died in 2001.
In addition to her four children, she is survived by 7 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
Elaine was a career mother and homemaker. She loved her family and was a strong, positive influence on their lives. In addition to her first and most important priority, which was her family, she also enjoyed gardening, playing tennis, painting, reading and Bible study. When living in Western New York State she attended the Niagara Frontier Bible Church in Lewiston, and later the Community Bible Church in Cambria, New York. After moving to Wyoming, she attended the Pinedale Bible Church in Pinedale, Wyo. She lived in Pinedale for 10 years before going to her eternal home in heaven with Jesus.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, June 18 at 11 a.m. at the Pinedale Bible Church.
