Dan Gordon McClure died on Sept. 3, in Muskogee, Okla., at the age of 53 years, 10 months and 27 days old.

Dan McClure, born on Oct. 7, 1970, a man with a heart as big as the wide-open spaces he loved, left us far too soon, but not without leaving a legacy of kindness, humor, and unwavering generosity. A devoted father to two beautiful daughters, a loving husband to his incredible wife, and a friend to anyone who ever needed one, Dan was the guy who would drop everything to help — whether it was fixing a fence, solving a problem or just offering a listening ear. He had a knack for turning everyday moments into adventures, especially with his girls by his side. His daughters were his pride and joy, and he never missed a chance to share stories about them or take them on spontaneous trips that always ended with a good story to tell.
Dan had a love for horses and the cowboy lifestyle, and he often joked that his job as a cop was really just to fund his horse and cattle habit. But his true passion was helping people, and he did so with a humble, can-do spirit that made everyone around him feel cared about. Though hes gone too soon, Dans presence will never fade. The next time you hear thunder, picture him up there, chasing cows across the sky and keeping an eye on all of us, like he always did — ready to step in when we need him most. Ride on, Dan, your legacy of love, laughter and selflessness will live on in all of us.
In true Dan fashion, he requested that we have a party in honor of his memory. He wanted people to rejoice in his memories and come together for one last laugh. Come dressed for a cowboy party on Oct. 5 at 2 p.m., at Rendezvous Pointe, 425 E. Magnolia St., Pinedale.

A celebration of life was held on Saturday, Sept. 14, at the Odell Farms facility in Asher, Okla.
