Beverly Ann Sawyer, age 79, died peacefully at her home in Thornton, Colo., on August 5, surrounded by her family. Born on June 14, 1945, she was one of four children born to the late Leon E. and Opal E. (Burnett) Covell. Bev met her husband, David, at the Weyburn Christian College and High School in Weyburn, Saskatchewan in 1960. She was a generous and loving wife and mother who took great pride in caring for her family and found joy in attending her sons’ and grandchildren’s school events. She managed Big Piney Carpets and worked as a preschool teacher during her years living in Big Piney. She was kind and generous to everyone she met and made life-long friends in her homes in Big Piney, Wyo., and Laredo, Texas, where she was the President of the Newcomers Club and played in a women’s golf league.
She was a member of the Church of Christ and is survived by her husband of 62 years, David Allan; children Brian (Carol) of Casper, Wyo., and Eric (Lynn) of Castle Rock, Colo.; grandchildren April (Drew) Peregoy of Shoshoni, Wyo., Gordon (Lindsay) Sawyer of Casper, Wyo.; Abigail, Kathryn and Andrew Sawyer of Castle Rock, Colo.; sister, Betty Martin of Medford, Oregon; and five great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, sister Marilyn and brother Leon (Harry), and son, Patrick.
A service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sept. 14, at the North Metro Church, 12505 Colorado Blvd. in Thornton, Colo.
