UPDATED: Fire crews respond to Pinedale house fire

Posted

PINEDALE -- No injuries have been reported relating to the house fire on the 0 block of West Washington Street in Pinedale on Wednesday evening.

At approximately 7:19 p.m. Sublette County Unified Fire was dispatched to a reported structure fire at 37 W Washington St. in Pinedale. Upon arrival, units observed heavy smoke produced from the single-family residence with flames visible through a window on the second story, according to an informational release on Friday morning.

Sublette County Unified Fire Public Information Officer Mike Petty said the occupants were not home during the fire and no responders were injured.

Units from Battalions 1, 2, 4 and 5 responded to the scene. Firefighters occupied Washington Street and an additional fire truck parked in the alley adjacent to the home. Petty said crews were sensitive to the structure of the home and couldn't utilize the ladders attached to trucks because of overhead power liners.

Firefighters extinguished the fire from the interior. Much of the building's contents and the majority of the structure were saved by firefighters.

According to a release from Sublette County Unified Fire, the building itself dates back to 1928, a much different time for electrical and building codes. The initial investigation determined a pinched electrical wire located between the first-level ceiling and the second-story floor was the cause of the fire.

Estimated monetary damage to the home was not released.
