PINEDALE – The Sublette County girls swimming team took on a pair of 4A squads on Friday: Jackson and Evanston.

The two teams provided plenty of challenge for Sublette County in the team's final meet before this weekend's 3A Western Conference meet, Oct. 20-21, in Powell.

Sublette swimmers won two out of the 12 events, but many girls had their fastest swims of year so far.

Emma Rogers knocked .11 seconds off of her seeded time to win the 200-yard individual medley in 2 minutes, 34.81 seconds. Page Nielson, Cassidy Espenscheid and Jennifer Wheeler rounded out the top four with their best times of the year.

Natalie Hunt scored Sublette's other first-place finish. Hunt won the 100-butterfly by 5 seconds in 1:10.24. Hunt also led Sublette in the 100-backstroke, finishing fourth in 1:14.43.

McKenzi Davison had two second-place finishes for Sublette. Davison finished behind Jackson's Maddy Jenkins in both the 50-freestyle (26.37) and 100-freestyle (59.51).

Israel Seeman finished third in the 50 free with her fastest time of the year, 27.70.

Kaylee Day led Sublette in the 200 free, taking fourth in 2:22.13.

Darbie Paulson scored 148.05 points in the 1-meter diving competition to finish second. Kylee Neubauer placed sixth (118.35).

Dana Wilson knocked almost 2 minutes off of her seeded time in the 500-free to finish second in 6:14.77. Day placed fourth (6:18.89), Seeman finished fifth (6:29.93) and Adalyn Bennett placed sixth (6:49.01).

Nielson led the charge in the 100-yard breaststroke, finishing third in 1:19.91. Rogers placed fourth in 1:21.49.

Sublette also finished second, behind Jackson, in all three of the relays. Jennifer Wheeler, Nielson, Hayden Thoman and Meleah Covill swam the 200-yard medley relay in 2:11.82 to take second.

Davison, Hunt, Rogers and Seeman finished second in the 200-free relay (1:49.69) and then switched up their order for the 400-free relay. Davison swam the anchor, Hunt led off, Seeman and Rogers swam the middle legs, but the result was the same – a second-place finish in 4:09.26.

This Friday and Saturday, Oct. 20-21, Sublette County will compete in the 3A Western Conference in Powell. Sublette has 10 swimmers who have qualified for state already, but the conference meet will be the last chance for everyone else to punch their tickets to the state championships.

The state meet will take place Nov. 2-3 in Gillette.
