Sharon Elaine (Steele) Lozier, 73, passed away Monday, March 27, 2017, at her home in Boulder.

Sharon, the oldest child of Earl and Thelma Steele, was born July 26, 1943 (her mother’s birthday), in Rock Springs, Wyo. She grew up in Boulder and was joined by siblings Gordon Edward (Pete) in 1944 and Rhonda (Swain) in 1951.

On Oct. 8, 1961, she married Lary Lozier. Three daughters completed their family: Shelby Lynn in 1962, Alice Arlene in 1963, and Taylene, who was born in 1970. The family expanded when Taylene had Jeremy and Jordan. Sharon and Lary lived on the Alexander Place north of Cora until the mid 1970s. They then moved to Boulder and settled in on Lary’s parents’ ranch. Sharon was a typical ranch wife, helping with riding, haying and whatever else needed to be done.

Sharon loved her children, grandchildren and dogs. They were always a big part of Sharon’s life – she loved her four-legged children dearly.

Later, Sharon and Lary started traveling in the winter months. They started out spending a couple of months in the southern states – they especially liked Louisiana. They enjoyed touring the countryside, visiting with locals and making new friends.

Eventually, they started spending winters in Apache Junction, Ariz., close to Taylene. Until last year, they stayed in Apache Junction until mid-February, when they would head to Louisiana to visit friends and enjoy great Cajun food. This year, they returned to Boulder the night before Sharon passed away.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents and brother Pete. She is survived by Lary, her husband of 55 years, her children Shel, Allie and Taylene, grandchildren Jeremy and Jordan, sister Rhonda (Garland) Swain, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Sharon’s memory to Boulder Community Center, P.O. Box 124, Boulder WY 82923.
