School district recognizes students of the month for October

Posted

PINEDALE – Four district students were

recognized as Students of the month for October

by the Sublette County School District

No. 1 board of trustees at their regular meeting

on Nov. 8.

Pinedale Elementary fifth-grade teacher

Emily Hittle nominated Nayali Chavez as

the school’s Student of the Month for October.

Chavez is an “extremely hardworking

student,” Hittle wrote in a letter submitted to

the board. Chavez is thorough with all of her

assigned work and goes “above and beyond

what is asked of her” on each assignment,

Hittle said.

Chavez “never gives up on herself even

when a task is difficult,” Hittle said. “She

will try a problem 20 times before she asks

for help but she does not shy away from asking,

nor is she afraid to redo an assignment

when she knows it isn’t her best work.”

Chavez was also recognized for displaying

compassion and a willingness to help fellow

classmates. Chavez is loyal, fair and a “friend

to everyone,” Hittle stated.

Pinedale Elementary School Assistant

Principal Janel Scurlock presented Chavez

with her award on Thursday night.

Pinedale Middle School chose Fatima

Valles Valenzuela as Student of the Month

for October. Math teacher Jeremy LaBeau

nominated Valenzuela for exhibiting the

monthly character trait of confidence in

learning. Valenzuela takes “positive steps”

to learn new material with confidence every

day, LaBeau said in a letter to the board. She

is also “unafraid of any obstacles that come

in her way,” LaBeau said.

“(Valenzuela) will find a way around

any obstacle including using her computer

or classmates to help translate and communicate

with teachers,” LeBeau added. “This

just strengthens her confidence in her ability

to learn.” n
