SUBLETTE COUNTY – Local events planned for Veteran’s Day will take place in Pinedale, Big Piney and Marbleton this year.
On Sunday, Nov. 11, the Pinedale VFW and the American Legion will perform a 21-gun salute to commemorate the 100-year anniversary of the armistice that ended World War I on Nov. 11, 1918. The ceremony will also honor all men and women who served in World War I and is scheduled to take place at 11 a.m. at the Veterans Memorial Monument in Pinedale’s American Legion Park.
Following the 21-gun salute on Sunday, the Wind River Brew Pub will offer a 20 percent discount on lunch to all veterans.
On Monday, Nov. 12, the Pinedale American Legion has planned the following ceremonies to honor veterans at local schools:
• 7:45 a.m. at Pinedale Middle School;
• 8:45 a.m. at Pinedale Elementary School; and
• 11 a.m. at Pinedale High School.
The American Legion is sponsoring a luncheon for veterans in Pinedale after the 11 a.m. ceremony at the high school. This event will be at the VFW, 1033 West Pine St. in Pinedale.
In Big Piney, the American Legion will conduct a ceremony in the Big Piney Fine Arts Center at 11 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 12.
On Tuesday, Nov. 13, the American Legion Auxiliary is providing lunch for veterans at the Southwest Sublette County Pioneers Senior Center, 429 E. 1st St., in Marbleton. A salad bar will open at 11:30 a.m. followed by lunch
