Gregory Allen Nystrom passed away in his home in Boulder, Wyo., on Nov. 11, 2021 due to complications from surgery. He was 59.

Greg was born on June 26, 1962, in Sacramento, Calif., to Mike and Patricia Nystrom. He grew up in Pinedale, Wyo., with his brother Mike Nystrom Jr. Greg was a multi-sport athlete at Pinedale High School, a skier and an active outdoorsman. When he wasn’t creating mischief in town with friends, he helped his family who ran White Pine Ski Lodge and Wolf Lake Outfitters.

After high school, Greg moved to Santa Barbara, Calif., to attend college. There, he met friend and future wife Chrisi Consoli. There, they enjoyed scuba diving and found ways to combine their love for both the beach and the mountains. They moved to Chico, where they both graduated from California State University-Chico in 1985 with bachelor degrees in Business Administration. A week after graduation, Greg and Chrisi married in Santa Barbara, and then moved to Jackson, Wyo., where their two children were born at St. John’s Hospital. Three years later, they moved to San Diego and then finally settled in Eugene, Ore., where they raised their sons and enjoyed many adventures. Greg also thrived in a successful career of financing and sales in the RV industry. Greg and Chrisi were together for 20 years before separating, though they always remained good friends. After their sons graduated from college and started their own families, Greg returned to the Pinedale area.

Greg was destined to return to his roots – the heart of the West that called him home. He was an outdoorsman who loved the country, hunting, fishing and cooking, and he never passed up an opportunity to have a good time! Greg developed many lifelong friends over the years. He was known to be quick-witted, handsome, charismatic, loyal, smart, memorable and could even be a bit of a stubborn outlaw.

Greg is survived by two sons and two daughters-in-law; Brandon Nystrom (and Natalie) of Denver, Colo., and Alex Nystrom (and Megan) of Beaverton, Ore.; five grandchildren: Charlee, Jaxson, Carter, Myla and Addison; mother Patricia Johnson of Cheyenne, Wyo.; former spouse Chrisi Nystrom; his brother Mike, sister-in-law Margi, niece Kelli; cousins Johnny and Kathleen, and dog Lizard. Greg also leaves behind his stepmother Donna, stepsisters Lisa and Michelle, and many faithful friends.

Greg is joining his father, who preceded him in death, as well as his dogs Sophie and Taku.

A private celebration of life will be held in the summer of 2022. To receive information please message Brandon or Alex Nystrom.
