PINEDALE – Pinedale High School senior Colton Gehlhausen signed his letter of intent to wrestle for the Chadron State College Eagles in a ceremony attended by family, friends and coaches at the Wrangler Gym on Thursday, Nov. 18.
Gehlhausen started wrestling in elementary school and competed at Pinedale Middle School before joining the PHS Wrangler varsity squad.
Gehlhausen earned 3A All-State honors in 2020 and 2021. He won the state championship in the 132-pound weight class in 2021 and also swept the competition to take first place at the 2021 3A Northwest Quadrant Championships.
In 2020, Gehlhausen came back from a second-place finish at the 3A West Conference to win the 132-pound weight bracket at State.
Gehlhausen plans to keep his options open in terms of choosing a major. He is considering pursuing a career in the medical field.
“I’m excited to move to the next level of wrestling, he said on Thursday. “I’m looking forward to going to college and wrestling with my brother Keegan.”
