Sublette County School District No. 9 (SCSD9) is facing a difficult paradox. Revenue from the 6-mill school levy assessed by the county is up significantly, primarily due to a booming energy sector.
Unfortunately, due to state law, the district is unable to retain a majority of that revenue source and SCSD9 is actually tightening the financial belt as it grapples with its lowest enrollment in more than three decades.
The SCSD9 Board of Trustees approved an $11,843,968 budget for the 2023-2024 fiscal year. The overall budget for all funds represents a decrease of approximately $1,040,000 from the 2022-2023 fiscal year budget, said Amy Anschutz, SCSD9 chief financial officer.
