Sublette County Attorney Clayton Melinkovich confirmed that on April 18 he asked commissioners for the Johnson County Attorney’s Office to investigate and if necessary prosecute “an individual who is employed by a state agency and works closely with (his) office.”

A sealed charge is filed with Sublette County Circuit Court with a closed preliminary hearing set for Wednesday, July 19, after the Roundup’s deadline.

The special prosecutor is Johnson County Attorney Tucker J. Ruby and attorney Elisabeth Trefonas is named for the defense.

A Circuit Court preliminary hearing is part of the judicial process for a felony charge. Sometimes charges are sealed in a sex case or if a juvenile is involved.
