PHS student secures first in Senior Division

ROCK SPRINGS — Pinedale Middle School students joined their south county counterparts in the Southwestern Junior and Senior Regional Science Fair competition held at Western Wyoming Community College in Rock Springs on Feb. 1. Students who placed in the top three from both Sublette County schools will go on to compete in the Wyoming State Science Fair in Laramie March 3-5.

Individual placings are below.

• Microbiology, first place, Oakley Francis and Macie Antonino with their group project, “Snow Way I’d Eat That.”

• Biomedical, second place, Kamri Brisk and Ainslie McMillen with their group project, “Pumped Up Kicks.”

• Behavioral & Social Sciences, first place, Landee Biffle and Arabella Dewitt with their group project, “How Does Sight Affect Taste?”

• Behavioral & Social Sciences, second place, Naomi Gaffney and Kate Mika with their group project titled, “Bop It!”

• Behavioral & Social Sciences, third place, Shelly Ben. Etc and Remedies Mata with their group project, “Do My Eyes Deceive Me?”

• Computer Science, third place, Samantha Prior with her project titled, “Crash Help 2.0.”

• Plant Science, second place Marie Noble and Natalie Jones with their group project, “No More Hairy Berries.”

• Chemistry, first place, Micah Nutt and Gwen Scurlock with their group project titled, “OOO Oil Substitutions.”
