Pinedale FFA honors members, mentors

PINEDALE – The annual Pinedale FFA Awards Banquet and Labor Auction took place on May 5, with the crowd enjoying the beef tacos buffet in honor of Cinco de Mayo.

Members, families and friends took seats at long tables in the boardroom of the Sublette County School District No. 1 as advisor and ag teacher Anna Campbell Hays started things off with chapter president Jaylee Bousman.

Many different honors and awards were presented, including chapter degrees, with special attention to freshman Star Chapter Greenhand Trayven Rouge and senior Star Chapter Farmer Mackenzie Head. Members also awarded honorary degrees to Pinedale rancher Madeleine Murdock, Jeff Maxam and Bondurant ranchers Lennie Campbell and Walden Campbell.

Celebrity auctioneer Steve James then auctioned off FFA members’ labor singly and in groups to raise money for future events. For example, Eli Hayward’s labor was purchased by Mike Vickrey on behalf of the Green River Valley Cattlemen’s Association – “We’ll re-auction him in February (at its convention).”
