PINEDALE – The Pinedale High School (PHS) golf team is on a roll following three successful meets in August.

Green River

The action opened with the Green River Invite at Rolling Green Country Club from August 15-16. The Wrangler boys advanced to seventh place on the leaderboard with a cumulative team score of 671 strokes. The team shot consistently at 333 in the first round and 338 in the second.

With only one athlete, the Pinedale girls did not place as a team.

Sophomore Braxton Costello secured third place in boys’ varsity with a two-day score of 144. Costello shot 72 on both Thursday and Friday.

Senior Elyn Bowers represented the Lady Wranglers in the girls’ varsity division. Bowers finished fourth with a combined score of 177. The senior shot 87 strokes in the first round and 90 in the second.

Pinedale Invite

PHS golfers pulled out all the stops at the Pinedale Invite hosted by Rendezvous Meadows Golf Course from August 22-23. The Wranglers snagged second place as a team with a combined score of 673 strokes. The boys shot 339 strokes on Thursday, improving to 334 on Friday.

Costello garnered gold at the Pinedale Invite following a tie-breaker playoff against Kemmerer’s Austin Christen. Costello’s final score on the leaderboard came to 152 strokes. The sophomore shot 79 in the first round, progressing to 73 strokes in the second round to pull him to the top of the leaderboard.

Bowers once again represented the Lady Wranglers at the home meet, clinching fifth place with a two-day score of 188. Bowers shot 98 in round one, improving to 90 in the second round.

Rock Springs Invite

Pinedale rounded out August with the Rock Springs Invite hosted by White Mountain Golf Course from August 29-30.

The Wrangler boys took sixth place as a team with a two-day score of 677 strokes (344-333).

Costello finished fourth overall in varsity boys at 148. Costello shot 75 on Thursday, improving to 73 on Friday.

Bowers advanced to 11th place on the leaderboard for varsity girls with a two-day score of 193 (99-94).
