Partial 2024 Great American Solar Eclipse over Sublette County

Posted

The moon passes between the Earth and the sun, casting a shadow on Earth and partially blocking the sun during the 2024 Great American Solar Eclipse as seen from the Pinedale Roundup’s office around 12:40 p.m. on Monday, April 8. Folks around Sublette County and across the country stepped outside Monday afternoon to enjoy the celestial event. The next solar eclipse visible in the United States won’t occur until 2044, followed by another in 2045.

The 2024 Great American Solar Eclipse peaks at around 12:44 p.m. in the sky above Sublette County on Monday, April 8. Wyoming was not in the path of totality in 2024, unlike in 2017. Michael Kramer said he never thought he’d use the $100 eclipse filter he purchased in 2017 again, but on Monday he pulled out his Canon 7D EOS camera along with his 100-400 mm telephoto zoom lens and captured this perfect moment while wearing his official Pinedale Eclipse glasses from 2017.
