Leyva’s bond amended to $100,000 surety

After more than five months in jail unable to meet a cash-only bond, a Daniel man accused of felony assault and attempted second-degree murder on Aug. 31, 2022, had his bond modified during a Feb. 2 hearing in 9th District Court. Judge Kate McKay ruled to modify the $100,000 cash-only bond to surety, meaning 10 percent of the amount. If released, he could be under house arrest or wear a SCRAM unit and work “with substantial details of his employment,” she said.
