RAWLINS – The Pinedale High School Lady Wranglers volleyball team hosted its first home game for the 2024 season, squaring off against Cokeville at the Wrangler Gym on Tuesday, September 10.

Cokeville beat Pinedale at the Evanston Tournament a few days earlier and the Lady Wranglers were ready to beat the Panthers. Pinedale won three close sets against Cokeville, 25-23, 29-27 and 25-22.

Senior Gabby Rogers and junior Erica Wilson led the Lady Wranglers in serving against Cokeville with four aces and 17 serves each.

Junior Alyxis White had 19 kills and nine digs and junior Charlotte Hawke had 12 kills. Fellow junior Erin Murphy posted 13 assists and seven digs. Senior Karsyn Henn had 12 assists and eight digs. Rogers also contributed 19 digs and senior Sarah Helm seven digs.

On defense, senior Mae McGuire had three blocks and fellow senior Lauryn Scurlock had one.

Rawlins Tournament

The Lady Wranglers boarded the bus for the Rawlins Tournament from September 13-14, featuring 3A schools from across Wyoming.

Pinedale had a great first day at the tournament on Friday, beating Burns (21-14 and 21-19), splitting with Powell (11-21 and 21-15) and beating Buffalo (21-9 and 21-18).

Rogers led serving on Friday with 11 aces and no errors on 31 serves. She also tallied 25 digs. White dug 14 balls and had 20 kills, followed by Charlotte Hawke with 13 kills and McGuire with seven. Murphy had 22 assists and Henn had 17.

The Lady Wranglers2-1 record in pool play on Friday placed the team in the Gold Bracket on Saturday. Pinedale fought hard against two of the top-ranked programs in 3A – Wheatland and Mountain View – taking a set off each.

The Lady Wranglers won the first set against Wheatland, 21-17, before falling in the second and third sets, 21-17 and 10-15.

Against Mountain View, Pinedale again won the first set, 21-15 and came up short in the second and third sets, 21-19 and 15-8.

Helm led the Lady Wranglers in serving on Saturday with four aces and 19 serves for 100 percent and a 2.32 serve rating, followed by Rogers with two aces and 17 serves.

Charlotte Hawke passed 2.77 on 13 passes, followed by Rogers at 2.42 on 31 passes.

White had 22 kills, while Hawke had 14. Hawke pitched in seven kills with McGuire contributing five. McGuire also posted five blocks, followed by Scurlock and senior Paiyzli Baker with two each.

Henn tallied 22 assists and nine digs and Murphy had 15 assists and 14 digs. Rogers also had 39 digs, followed by White with 19 and Helm with 12.

The Lady Wranglers gave it all they had and worked hard over the weekend, growing with each set and learning new skills to get better for the next games.
