BIG PINEY – This past week, the Punchers took on Wyoming Indian and Wind River and came away with big wins against both teams.
What a great way to finish out our regular season.
These victories capped off an incredible conference season, leaving Big Piney undefeated in the 2A West (6-0) and securing the No. 1 seed heading into the regional tournament.
Big Piney has shown tremendous growth, grit and consistency over the past few weeks. It is exciting to see all of their hard work paying off.
Our offense was firing on all cylinders with junior Myka Wicks leading the team this week in kills with 20, followed closely by junior Jada Banks and sophomore Phoebe Jones, who both recorded 14 kills. Their energy and power at the net helped set the tone for both matches.
Senior Kodee Greene was a force at the net, leading the team with six blocks and seven aces, demonstrating her ability to impact the game on both sides of the ball.
Defensively, our back row continues to shine. Libero and senior Lizzy Brandt anchored our defense with 29 digs while reading the court and keeping rallies alive. Wicks posted 20 digs, proving her versatility as both an offensive and defensive threat.
The Big Piney volleyball team has shown incredible determination and chemistry throughout the season. Every player has embraced their role and contributed to our success. We are entering regionals with confidence, excitement and a clear focus on continuing to play our brand of volleyball – disciplined, competitive and united.
Lander hosts the 2A West regional tournament. Big Piney faces Thermopolis in its first matchup at the event on Friday, October 31, at 1 p.m.
The Lady Punchers are ready to compete at regionals. The postseason is always an exciting time and we cannot wait to take the court and represent our school and community with pride.
