Lady Punchers compete at 2A Invitational

BIG HORN – Week three of Wyoming high school volleyball featured another round of tournaments across the state, including invitationals for 1A, 2A and 3A teams.

The Big Piney High School Lady Punchers competed at the 2A Invitational hosted by Big Horn from September 13-14.

Big Piney squared off against the host school in the first match, coming up short, 2-0. The first set was close with Big Horn winning, 25-20. Big Horn went on to win the second set, 25-11.

Big Piney fell to Wright in the next match in both sets, 25-8 and 25-15.

The third match on Friday pitted the Lady Punchers against Sundance. Sundance won both sets, 25-13 and 25-20.

On Saturday, Big Piney played Tongue River and came up short in two sets, 25-20 and 25-11.

In the second game on Saturday, Big Piney fell to Pine Bluffs in two sets, 25-6 and 25-11.

The final match at the tournament featured a showdown between the Lady Punchers and Moorcroft. Both sets came down to the wire as Big Piney battled Moorcroft for each point. Moorcroft pulled ahead to win the first set, 25-19.

The Lady Punchers fought Moorcroft to a draw at 25 in the second set. Moorcroft ultimately scored the tie-breaking point to win the set, 26-25, and the match, 2-0.

Big Piney travels to Thermopolis for another tournament on Friday and Saturday, September 20-21.

The Lady Punchers host Wyoming Indian High School for Homecoming Week on Friday, September 27. Varsity are scheduled to play at 6 p.m.
