POCATELLO, IDAHO – Sublette County athletes competing on the Pinedale High School indoor track team filled their bag with top-20 finishes and new personal records at the 2024 Stacy Dragila High School Open Invitational sponsored by Idaho State University on Jan. 27.
More than 40 high school and youth athletic club teams gathered at the prestigious event, representing the best track athletes from Wyoming, Idaho, Montana and Oregon.
Junior Madison Antonino captured second place in the girls’ varsity 1600-meters, posting a time of 5 minutes, 23.49 seconds. Antonino crossed the finish line nearly 7 seconds ahead of the third-place finisher and within 6 seconds of the winner, Paisley Taylor of YMCA Team Idaho.
Antonino, sophomore Clairee Bingham, junior Emma York and freshman Bethany Vrska took second place in the girls’ 4x400-meter relay, clocking in at 4:42.99.
Girls’ top 20
York snagged 11th place in both the 800-meter and the 1600-meter races. The junior timed the 800-meters in at 2:40.14 and went on to post a sub-6-minute time in the mile at 5:58.33.
Sophomore Ahbreanna Nunn finished 18th in the 60-meter hurdles, clocking in at 11.81 seconds. Freshman Heather Noble placed 19th in the event at 12.06 seconds and Bingham took 20th place at 12.30 seconds.
Representing Sublette County in the pole vault, junior Isabelle Rigo earned 17th place, hitting a mark of 7 feet, 1 inch.
Vrska snapped up 16th place in the long jump, clearing 13-05 ¾. Junior Addison Losik placed 17th in the event with a leap measured in at 12-11.
Hitting a mark of 27-11 ¼ in the triple jump, senior Anna Lehr placed seventh in the event.
Boys’ top 20
Relay highlights included a fourth-place finish for freshman Reed Morningstar, sophomore Decker Normington, sophomore Ian Rigo and junior Kelby Staley in the 4x400-meters. The team finished the race with a sub-4-minute time of 3:58.18.
Staley secured 14th place in the 800-meters, timing in at 2:12.82. Normington placed 20th in the event at 2:16.21.
Clocking the long-distance 3200-meter run in at 12:35.39, senior Michael Casebolt took 16th place in the event.
Normington rounded out top-20 finishes by placing 20th in the shot put with a toss measured at 32-07 ¼.
