Free bear spray trainings, giveaways in Pinedale today

The Wyoming Game and Fish department has about 100 cans of bear spray to give away in Pinedale today, Aug. 23. The cans are free and distributed beginning at 10 a.m. on a first come, first serve basis to individuals holding a valid WY hunting or fishing license.

Free bear spray trainings, giveaways in Pinedale today

The Wyoming Game and Fish Department Pinedale Office, 432 Mill Street, is hosting free bear spray trainings and bear spray giveaways today, Aug. 23, beginning at 10 a.m.
Thanks to partnerships, the department has about 100 cans of bear spray to give away in Pinedale. The cans are free and distributed on a first come, first serve basis to individuals holding a valid WY hunting or fishing license.
Participants in the bear spray training session will come up against a controlled charging bear simulator called "Robobear," allowing them to practicing accessing and deploying the bear spray under stress.
Game and Fish will have biologists on site to provide education about bear ecology, conservation and promoting "Bear Wise" proactive behaviors to reduce conflict potential.
