Eighth annual Fishing for the Fight a resounding success

Posted

PINEDALE – Avid anglers from across the region and country gathered in Sublette County for a weekend of world-class fishing at the eighth annual Fishing for the Fight (FFF) Tournament from July 18-20.

All proceeds from the tournament go toward the non-profit organization’s goal to aid families fighting cancer, people with special needs and those with chronic illnesses. The eighth Fishing for the Fight Tournament raised more than $500,000.

Fishing for the Fight also met its goal of establishing a $1 million endowment for Kickin’ Cancer in Sublette County and presented the check to Kickin’ Cancer this week.

A group of dedicated anglers formed the non-profit Fishing for the Fight in 2017 and organized the first tournament that year. For three days, anglers participate in a limited-entry competition and an opportunity to cast their line in Sublette County’s epic creeks, streams, rivers and lakes.

Each team of fishermen and women are led by professional guides from Sublette County and across Wyoming and the Rocky Mountains.

“We have helped countless individuals throughout the years with special needs and chronic illnesses (with funding) travel expenses,” said Chauncey Goodrich, FFF founder and president. “FFF has quickly become on of the most talked about fly fishing tournaments in the western U.S.”
