Dear Editor,
A week ago, the Sublette County Planning and Zoning Commission held their monthly meeting and public hearing. More than four hours of the marathon meeting were devoted to the Forty Rod West Subdivision, to be located immediately east of Highway 191 about halfway between Daniel and Rim Station, with access directly opposite the Forty Rod County Road. The mile-long subdivision will involve 43 residences on 300 acres with an average lot size of about 6 acres.
Many topics were discussed: antelope migration corridor, mule deer migration corridor, horses, dogs, highway traffic and accidents, scenic value of the otherwise development-free east side of highway, irrigation water distribution, undersized lots, inconsistency with the larger lot size across the highway, and recusal of potentially conflicted members of the Commission.
Ultimately the PZ voted 3:2 to recommend approval of the proposal, with two relatively minor conditions applied.
Sublette County residents who care about any of this should contact our County Commissioners. They want the input, and they cannot hear you if you don’t contact them.
The County Commission will meet Friday, Nov. 8 to decide.
Thank you.
