Byrd is the word!

Posted

Dear Editor,

Byrd is the word! The U.S. Senate has been making an effort to sell off millions of acres of our precious BLM and Forest Service lands to the highest bidder in a rushed and greedy bid to help pay for tax cuts for the rich. There has been widespread public outcry, but that isnt what caused a bump in the road for Utah Senator Mike Lees plans. The senate parliamentarian ruled that the proposal didnt meet the Byrd Rule and couldnt be included in the reconciliation bill.

But as I type this, the proposal remains in the bill and Mike Lee has vowed to amend the language and try again! And guess who loudly and publicly supports him?!? Our Sens. Barrasso & Lummis, plus Rep. Hageman, Gov. Gordon, and half of our WY senate. Last week Hageman called us “SILLY” for caring about safeguarding our public lands!

Public lands are what make Wyoming great, and its one of the best ideas America has ever had. We need to let these officials know that they do NOT represent the will of the people. Call and write! Melt their phone lines and flood their emails! They plan to vote on it this week. Once these lands are sold, they are lost forever for all of us - the public land owners of America.

Sincerely,

Kelly Ravner,

Pinedale, Wyo.
