MARBLETON — The Town of Marbleton hosted its annual Community Ice Fishing Day on Sunday, February 2. Despite the clouds and some rain, about 30 ice anglers of all ages from Marbleton, Big Piney and surrounding communities converged on Marbleton’s community fishing pond for a fun-filled day outdoors.
Marbleton Town Clerk Shannon McCormick estimated the town’s 2.2-acre pond was frozen over with between 12-18 inches of ice.
As if a day spent fishing wasn’t enough to lure people outside, the town provided hot dogs, chili and hot chocolate throughout the day. Door prizes were given away every half-hour, including lures and tackle boxes donated by the Town of Marbleton, $25 gift cards donated by Waterhole #3, and movie and bowling passes donated by Flicks N Pins.
Youth participants had a successful day on the ice, pulling in at least two fish each.
