Airport to temporarily close in July


PINEDALE – The construction season is approaching with several projects that will close or restrict operations at the Pinedale Airport.

For a time period – from July 4 to mid-September – Emblem Aviation will operate from the Big Piney-Marbleton Airport with limited hours in Pinedale.

On May 17, all vehicles will need to be removed from parking lots or they will be towed, according to airport manager Grover Laseke. First, all taxiways, aprons and the parking lot will be crack-sealed, expected to take three days. Pavement sealing will take place after that, taking about five days. Both projects are funded by WYDOT.

In mid-June, the East GA Apron project, building a new apron between taxiways Bravo and Charlie to serve larger aircraft. Self-service fueling will not be available as of July 4 except from Emblem Aviation’s fuel truck. A new self-service avgas station will be built bear the current location.

After July 4, HK Contractors will begin runway rehabilitation and the airport will be totally closed except for helicopter use to mid-September. Tenants will be able to access their hangars. After the runway is paved, the runway will open for day use only for about two weeks to groove the runway at night.
