I am blessed to have been raised in Daniel, graduating from Pinedale High School in 1976, and grateful for the opportunity to build SOS Well Services, a successful energy sector business employing many local families. Forty years ago, I created this company from the ground up with the achieved goal of providing excellent customer service and good-paying jobs. I also have experience in ranching, another cornerstone industry in our state with economic and cultural importance. After working on local ranches in my earlier years I used the knowledge gained to create and manage Solitude Ranch, a successful cattle operation located in northeastern Wyoming. Our great state and its people have given much to me, and I feel privileged and compelled to give back.

My campaign is different; it is free from outside influences. I refuse to accept endorsements and campaign contributions from political action committees and special interest groups. I am the only candidate for House District 20 not leveraged by outside influences. This means I will work for you and only you.

Your endorsement is the only one I seek.

The explosion in property taxes families in HD 20 are facing is unsustainable. I am solution-oriented, not reform-oriented, and I will do everything in my power to provide across-the-board significant tax relief to every family in House District 20, without gimmicks or requiring them to fill out lengthy detailed forms containing sensitive and very personal information. I support the 50 percent property tax exemption currently proposed as a citizen-led ballot initiative, which is the result of frustrated Wyomingites tackling the issue of property taxes on their own because their legislators failed them. We have witnessed what has happened in Teton County, and I refuse to let residents of HD 20 fear losing their homes in the future because they cannot afford the taxes. Last year the state of Wyoming increased its budget by well over one billion dollars, while also adding roughly $750 million more to the state savings account. This is unacceptable and out of touch, and I will work hard to make sure the state budget is reasonable and that the state does not fill its bank account by breaking yours.

Our beloved Wyoming wildlife resources are not just important to me, they are a part of our identity. I have donated substantial time and resources to ensure a bright future for Wyoming hunters and wildlife enthusiasts. As a legislator, I will propose and support laws that further this mission.

Im also a strong supporter of your Second Amendment right to own and possess firearms, a right that is fundamental to our way of life.

If you want a representative who will stand strong against skyrocketing property taxes and wasteful spending, protect your constitutional rights, and who will work hard to secure a bright future for Wyoming, I respectfully ask that you vote Mike Schmid for HD 20. Please contact me and share your ideas and thoughts, I want to hear your concerns.
