81st Annual Bondurant Beef BBQ draws crowds

Posted

HOBACK BASIN – The sky presented everyone with a pitch-perfect bluebird Sunday for the 81st Annual Bondurant Beef BBQ after Rev. Randy Belton led the outdoor service at St. Hubert the Hunter Episcopal Church.

Tantalizing smells from the firepit-roasted beef, homemade barbecue sauces and a cauldron of beans enticed 489 diners to attend this year’s fundraiser, which kicked off after the Sunday service.

The Bondurant Community Club continues to use decades-old original recipes for the sauces, beans, beef and homemade coleslaw and sauerkraut. Tempting desserts of many flavors were set out for each diner to pick one (or two). The Alice Brown Trust and Little Jennie Ranch donated two beeves that emerged perfectly smoky and succulent.

Longtime friends and newcomers mingled and visited while The Legends played their traditional music beside the church.
