Sublette swimmers snag fourth at Jackson Invite

JACKSON — The Sublette County combined boys’ swim team wrapped up week five of the season by beating host Jackson Hole High School at the 2024 Jackson Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 6. Sublette County earned a total of 133 points against 3A and 4A champs from Lander, Laramie, Kemmerer and Jackson.

In the men’s 200-yard medley relay, sophomores Scotty Ring, Kyle Donaldson, Kaden Day and freshman Jared Hacklin picked up fifth with a combined time of 2:16.19. Sublette’s “B” Relay team, consisting of freshmen Tucker Boyce and Gage Scobey, along with junior Reuben Allen and Emmett Hansen, completed the event with a combined time of 3:00.05.

Sublette County senior Andy DeClue finished the men’s 200-yard free in 2:07.79. Teammate Wyatt Hyde, a sophomore, finished the event with a time of 2:34.38.

Freshman Joshua Scherbel completed the mens 200-yard individual medley with a time of 3:09.04.

Senior John Ruby finished the men’s 50-yard free race with a time of 26.19, followed by Hacklin in 27.17 and freshman Carson Ruby in 27.91.

Day finished the men’s 100-yard butterfly in sixth place with a time of 1:05.58, followed closely by DeClue in seventh with a time of 1:04.38.

Junior Calleb Willson finished the men’s 100-yard free with a time of 1:05.15. Hyde was close behind him with a time of 1:05.68, followed by Carson Ruby in 1:05.78.

Hacklin completed the men’s 500-yard free in 7:34.71.

In the men’s 200-yard free relay, Sublette’s “A” team of Willson, John Ruby, Carson Ruby and DeClue finished third with a time of 1:47.36.

Ring completed the men’s 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:15.67, followed by Scobey in 1:18.86 and Donaldson in 1:23.98.

Day finished the men’s 100-yard breaststroke in 1:20.25.

Sublette’s Relay “A” team, consisting of freshmen Gavin Bohnet, Scherbel, Hyde and senior John Ruby finished fifth in the men’s 400-yard free relay, with a combined time of 4:26.85. The Relay “B” team, made up of DeClue, freshmen Brayden Losik and Cactus Chrisman along with senior Aurick Lilis, completed the event in 4:56.03.

The Sublette County combined boys’ swim team was scheduled to compete in Evanston on Tuesday, Jan. 9, but the meet was canceled. The team swims next in Pinedale on Jan. 12-13, at the Pinedale Aquatic Center.
