PINEDALE — For the 25th consecutive year, the Museum of the Mountain Man hosted Living History Days from May 7-9. Despite the typical springtime mix of snow and rain, Sublette County students and others from around the region converged upon Pinedale to learn about the history of the Rocky Mountain Fur Trade and its historical significance to Sublette County and beyond.

Members of the American Mountain Men set up stations around the museum where they put on educational demonstrations about black powder firearms, Native American sign language, beaver skinning, constructing tipis and shelters, trade goods and more.

Hundreds of students from around the region attended the hands-on demonstrations, engaging in a learning opportunity unlike any other.

The 2024 Living History Days sponsors included Sublette BOCES, Sweetwater BOCES and Frank King, ensuring all activities were free and open to the public.

The event has been a favorite in the community and southwestern Wyoming since its inception in 2001.
