PINEDALE – The Pinedale Glaciers’ high school “B” team is preparing for the state tournament in Gillette on Feb. 23-25. The team enters the competition ranked No. 2 in its league with a 16-3-1 season record.
Pinedale rounded the regular season out with two games against Rock Springs earlier this month. The Glaciers fell to Rock Springs, 6-4, in a close game on Feb. 9. Rebounding the following day, the Glaciers achieved an 8-2 victory against Rock Springs.
The first period of the Feb. 9 game ended in a 1-1 tie. Dace Rhea scored for Pinedale unassisted.
Rock Springs pulled ahead in the second period, 3-1. Rhea shot in Pinedale’s lone goal, assisted by Tyler Currah.
Both teams netted two points in the third period as Pinedale fought to close the deficit. Rhea scored the first goal off a play by Tyler Currah. Taking possession, Tyler Currah scored the second goal with an assist by Rhea and Yates Garcilaso Huffman.
Tyson Ramirez played goalie and tallied 33 saves.
On Feb. 10, the Wranglers overwhelmed Rock Springs, 4-1, in the first period. Waylon Williams commenced scoring, assisted by Randal Reddon. The next goal came from Reddon with an assist by Mason Currah. Garcilaso Huffman delivered a goal unassisted and Christian Sosa Sanchez rounded scoring out in the first period, assisted by Bridger Lamppa.
Each team scored a single point in the second period, with Williams netting Pinedale’s goal, assisted by Garcilaso Huffman.
Pinedale topped Rock Springs in scoring, 3-0, in the third period. Williams shot in the first goal, assisted by Garcilaso Huffman. Rhea and Lamppa scored the next goals, the second goal off an assist by Tyler Currah.
Ramirez posted 24 saves.
