PHS challenge top-seeded Worland

WORLAND – Taking on one of the top boys’ soccer programs in the state, Pinedale did its best to throw in a few punches against Worland on Saturday, May 8. The Warriors, No. 1 in the 3A West Conference, hit the field with an undefeated record overall and continued their winning streak against Pinedale with a 7-0 victory.

Pinedale entered the weekend the No. 5 seed.

Head coach J.D. Dudrey highlighted seniors on the starting lineup for the effort they put in against a tough opponent.

“Landon Preece and Juan Reyes played well in our game on Saturday," he said. "Keegan Gehlhausen also played well on Saturday while tallying 12 saves (as goalie) throughout the game."

Dudrey also gave a shoutout to the underclassman representing the Wranglers.

"I would also like to mention a few of the freshman who played in the varsity game," he added. "Colbin March, Jayce Ramage and Dylan Call gave us some great minutes. Dylan started the game and was all over the field. Colbin and Jayce played the majority of the second half. Colbin played really well on defense while Jayce ended up giving us several scoring opportunities on the offensive end."

The Wranglers play two more conference matches before the State Tournament hosted by Cheyenne on May 20-22. On Friday, May 14, Pinedale travels to Lyman to take on the Eagles. Kickoff for boys’ varsity is scheduled for 6 p.m.

Saturday, May 15, features the season’s final home game, a matchup against Mountain View. The varsity boys’ take to the field at 11 a.m. with senior recognition at 12:45 p.m.

Pinedale defeated both teams from the Bridger Valley early in the season. The Wranglers took down Lyman, 4-1, and Mountain View, 3-1, in March.
