SUBLETTE COUNTY — On Saturday, June 8, 119 registrants participated in the 8th Annual Boulder Roll, raising $9,240 for the Sublette County Mental Health Fund and awareness for suicide prevention.
The Boulder Roll poker run began in 2017, in memory of Jim “Crash” Newman, a Pinedale resident and avid motorcyclist who died by suicide in 2016. As part of their healing, Newman’s biker friends created Boulder Roll Awareness and Prevention, honoring Crash by doing what they all love best, heading out on the highway. Classic cars and trucks are also invited to participate in the annual poker run.
The event begins with a breakfast at the VFW in Pinedale, with stands up at 11 a.m. Route stops include The Rim Station and The Elkhorn in Bondurant, the Green River Bar in Daniel, Marbleton’s The Waterhole #3, The Eagle Bar in LaBarge, The Spur Bar in Big Piney and finally The Boulder Bar and Grill in Boulder. Following the ride, folks converged at the Boulder Bar for live music by Full Blown Mosey, a silent auction, a bonfire, and a delicious pulled pork dinner special.
Numerous local businesses and community members donated to this year’s Boulder Roll auction, which featured precious stone jewelry donated by JL Gray Rock Shop, a macrame American flag created by Mandi Cantu, a stunning lap quilt by Krystal Thompson, a set of goat milk products from Geo Burns, Brandee Moore and The 5 Goat Homestead in Daniel, an intricate metal guitar sculpture created by Taylor Durfee, a metal Harley Davison cutout from JoAnn and George Wallace, a limited edition Harley Davidson lego donated, sterling silver jewelry by Cindy Mitchell, a camo compound bow donated by the Daniel Junction and so much more.
The funds raised during the 2024 event were presented to Randy Belton, who along with Reverend Melinda Bobo, administers the Sublette County Mental Health Fund through St. Andrew’s in the Pines Episcopal Church in Pinedale. In addition to the money raised during the annual Boulder Roll poker run, generous donors and grant funds from the Foundation for the Episcopal Church in Wyoming help bolster the Sublette County Mental Health Fund.
