PINEDALE – The Wranglers fell, 10-0, in a tough match against top-ranked rival Worland on Saturday, April 17. Worland hit the field No. 2 in the 3A West Conference with an undefeated overall record and the Warriors pulled out all the stops against Pinedale.
Warrior defense maintained an ironclad barrier around the net, preventing the Wranglers from scoring. Pinedale's backfield managed to find its footing and fight off additional attacks from the Warriors.
“One player that really stood out in the game against Worland was (senior) Kellen Schupp,” said head coach J.D. Dudrey. “We stressed that we needed to play more physically throughout the week, and he went out there and did that for 80 minutes on Saturday.”
Senior Keegan Gehlhausen played goalie and caught a total of 10 saves.
Following several weeks of home games, the Wranglers are on the road this weekend to face off against Cody on Friday, April 23, with kickoff for the varsity boys' squad at 5 p.m. The team travels to Powell on Saturday, April 24, to take on the Panthers at 2 p.m.
According to Wyopreps, as of April 14, the Wranglers have scored a total of eight goals this season. Freshman Jayce Ramage led the team with four goals. Senior Landon Preece shot in two goals while freshman Dylan Call and junior Lucas Hughes both added one goal to the tally.
Big Piney senior Edwin Gonzalez played two assists so far this season. Senior Logan Bing and junior Braydon Simmons both maneuvered one assist.
On defense, Gehlhausen chalked up 42 saves by April 14, and with the figure from Saturday's match against Worland, has a total of 52 saves. Freshman Brody Hamby served as varsity goalie early in the season and caught 26 saves.
